His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, renewed the Council’s support for the efforts of the Consultation and Reconciliation Commission to unify and gather national forces around the goal of restoring state institutions.
In his speech, on Tuesday, before the Consultation and Reconciliation Commission, His Excellency the President congratulated the holding of its general meeting in the interim capital, Aden. He also congratulated the successes it achieved at the level of institutional establishment, in particular the formation of its main committees, which will represent an additional support for decision-makers at all levels.
His Excellency the President expressed his appreciation, along with his fellow council members, for the efforts and support provided by the Consultation and Reconciliation Commission to the Presidential Leadership Council during the recent period. He expressed his hope that this effort would turn into integrated collective action to achieve the strategic goal of having effective national forces under one presidential coalition.
The President of the Presidential Leadership Council mentioned five main priorities for the National Forces Alliance. Based on working to protect the existing consensus within the framework of the Presidential Leadership Council, the government of political technocrats, and supporting the state’s efforts to build a model in the liberated governorates, including fulfilling its inevitable obligations towards citizens, and facilitating its access to all its public resources.
His Excellency indicated that the priorities of this stage must always be at the forefront of mobilizing all energies for the battle to restore state institutions, and consolidate Yemen’s belonging to its Arab incubator. In addition, the President indicated to strengthening the partnership with the countries of the coalition supporting legitimacy, and making it a basis for the security and stability of Yemen and the region. He added the importance to unifying the media discourse and responding immediately to developments, urgent changes, and combating misinformation and rumors that would threaten the unity of the cohesiveness and the home front.
In this context, the President of the Presidential Leadership Council explained that it will be necessary to provide updated reference documents that diagnose the work environment, its variables, possible paths, and answer the questions and requirements of the Day After.
His Excellency the President of the Presidential Leadership Council presented a brief briefing on what the Presidential Leadership Council has achieved so far, pointing to some important gains related to the Council’s tasks included in the announcement of the transfer of power. The most prominent of which is the cohesion of the Council and the continuation of this national consensus, as it is the greatest achievement.
He said, “Despite slow progress on some tracks, preventing bloodshed between partners with the same goal is a priceless achievement.”
He also pointed out the improvement of the security conditions in the interim capital, Aden, and the liberated governorates, and the state’s continued fulfillment of its imperative obligations, including regular payment of employee salaries. He also pointed out to securing requirements for commodity imports, despite the severe financing crisis.
His Excellency the President affirmed moving forward with the procedures for unifying and integrating the armed and security forces, in accordance with the recommendations of the Joint Security and Military Committee.
The President of the Presidential Leadership Council stressed the Council’s continued support for the government’s efforts and reforms implemented at various levels, including the Central Bank’s decisions to protect the banking sector and combat money laundering.
He considered that activating the role of the Consultation and Reconciliation Commission in leading reconciliation efforts, and bringing viewpoints closer between the various parties and components, is one of the most important bright spots in the work of the Leadership Council.
The Chairman of the Consultation and Reconciliation Commission, Mohammed Al-Ghaithi, briefed the Council on the Commission’s work during the previous period. He also pointed out to the completion of the organizational and infrastructure establishment, and the partnerships that the Commission held at the regional and international levels.
The Chairman of the Consultation and Reconciliation Commission also spoke about the Commission’s priorities, its future program, and the presidential support required to fulfill its full duties under the announcement of the transfer of power.
