Media Analysis

International, Arab, and local media covered the Yemeni file in all its political, humanitarian, military, economic, etc. aspects. The political media covered the launch of consultations on Sunday in the Omani capital, Muscat, between the “internationally recognized” Yemeni government and the “Ansar Allah” group regarding the exchange of prisoners and detainees. The consultations were being held under the auspices of the Office of the UN Special Envoy for Yemen, Hans Grundberg, and the International Committee of the Red Cross. As for the humanitarian aspect, it witnessed widespread coverage due to the worsening humanitarian crisis, as the United Nations World Food Programme reported that “more than half of families in Yemen do not have enough to eat due to poor economic conditions and the months-long pause of food aid to millions of people in the north.” The Yemeni Ansarullah group announced that it would release United Nations employees detained in Sanaa “after proving their innocence of spying for US and Israeli intelligence.” The military aspect also witnessed broader media coverage than in previous weeks, as the military media covered, the naval forces of the Yemeni “Ansar Allah” group unveiling on Sunday the “Toophan al-Mudammer” boat, noting that it is has high destructive capabilities and advanced technology. Additionally, three maritime and security sources have reported that the tanker “Lavant,” which had been adrift off the coast of Yemen after being abandoned by its crew, has disappeared and is believed to have sunk. The Yemeni “Ansar Allah” group announced that it targeted four Israeli, American, and British ships with ballistic and cruise missiles in the Red Sea, Arabian Sea, Indian Ocean, and Mediterranean Sea.
