Member of the Presidential Leadership Council Othman Mjualli met on Monday with the US Ambassador to Yemen Steven Fagin discussing with him the bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and prospects for their development.
Mujalli listened to the US Ambassador about the role his country is playing in achieving peace, stability, ending the war, and supporting state institutions to provide services.
Mujalli pointed out to the positive responsiveness of the Presidential Leadership Council, stemming from its constitutional responsibilities and moral commitment to getting the Yemeni people out of the successive crises imposed by the terrorist Houthi militias, starting with the coup and igniting the war, passing through the economic war and the policy of starving citizens, which the militias have pursued through a set of practices that began with looting the Central Bank in Sana’a and seized the joint account – the branch of the Central Bank in Hodeidah, which was allocated to pay the salaries of employees under the Hodeidah agreement.
Mujalli highlighted the Houthi militias’ looting of the salaries of retirees in the public and private sectors, and the salaries of government employees throughout the provinces of the Republic, and imposed tributes and taxes, forged currency, and imposed unilateral economic and monetary measures, up to targeting the ports of al-Dhaba and al-Nushaima, and destroying public and private resources, and preventing merchants and businessmen from accessing Yemeni ports and adopting a militia policy that has harmed the currency and the economic situation as a whole.
The member of the Leadership Council stressed that the people support the measures taken by the Central Bank in the temporary capital Aden to preserve its legal position and independence in decision-making and tasks in accordance with the Bank’s work law, which ensures the preservation of the rights of citizens, their money, investments and deposits, and not disturbing the balance with foreign banks, and imposing a strict policy that contributes to combating terrorism and drying up the sources of money laundering that the militias have been using to finance their terrorist operations at home and abroad.
Mujalli emphasized that the arrest of citizens, employees of foreign embassies, international organizations and humanitarian workers, as well as the ongoing evasion on the file of prisoners and detainees, are part of the terrorism of the Houthi militias and evidence of the brutality of this group and their ability to lie, forge and intimidate people, forcing employees to make confessions under torture to escape the obligations of services and salaries that they have looted under the pretext of war.
Mujalli praised the role played by the Arab coalition led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in supporting legitimacy on the economic and humanitarian side, and strengthening the options for peace in Yemen according to the three references and in a way that preserves the goal of restoring the state… noting the adherence of the legitimate government in Yemen to its constant approach in confronting all forms of terrorism, including attempts to turn the global trade corridors in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden into a card in the hand of the Iranian regime, through its tools in the region.
The member of the Presidential Leadership Council touched during the meeting on the terrorism practiced against the Palestinian people in Gaza, and the brutal practices against the civilian population that amount to fully-fledged war crimes, which are the horrific human rights violations that exacerbate the situation in the region and create new spaces for the growth of violence, extremism and opportunistic political agendas, including what Iran and its arms are doing in Yemen and the region in general.
For his part, the US ambassador affirmed his country’s continued support for the Leadership Council and the Yemeni people to restore the state and achieve security, stability and peace.
He praised the responsible role and professional response of the President and members of the Council on all files, the latest of which is the file of prisoners and kidnapped, Yemenia Airlines and the Central Bank.
