Media Analysis
International, Arab, and local media covered the Yemeni file in all its political, humanitarian, military, economic, etc. aspects. The political media covered the announcement by the UN envoy to Yemen on Tuesday regarding the agreement reached between the Yemeni government, based in Aden, and the “Ansar Allah” (Houthis) to de-escalate tensions in the banking sector and Yemenia Airlines. As for the humanitarian aspect, it witnessed widespread coverage due to the worsening humanitarian crisis, as a boat carrying at least 45 refugees capsized off the coast of Taiz, Yemen, on Wednesday night, with only four survivors, according to what the United Nations Refugee Agency reported in Yemen on Thursday. The military aspect also witnessed broader media coverage than in previous weeks, as the military media covered, the “Ansar Allah” (Houthis) announcing their responsibility for a drone attack targeting Tel Aviv on Friday, resulting in one death and several injuries. In response to this attack, Israel reported that its fighter jets bombed sites belonging to the Ansarullah group in the Hodeidah port area in Yemen on Saturday.
