A government meeting chaired by Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak in the temporary capital of Aden on Tuesday approved the launch of Starlink satellite internet service in Yemen.
The meeting reviewed a report submitted by the Public Telecommunications Corporation, detailing the licensing agreement with Starlink and the services to be provided through the Corporation as an authorized service provider. The meeting confirmed the completion of all procedures related to the launch of Starlink services in Yemen, which will deliver high-quality, high-speed satellite internet service at competitive prices for all segments of society.
The meeting, attended by Minister of Planning and International Cooperation and Acting Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Dr. Waed Badhib, and Minister of Finance Salem bin Buraik, indicated that a dedicated platform for all Starlink services will soon be launched through the Corporation’s widespread sales points across most governorates. This platform will facilitate device sales, activation, subscription fee payments at reasonable prices, and other services, including direct technical support.
The meeting also emphasized the mandatory registration of all Starlink devices currently used by individuals or entities. This includes providing all required user data, especially for devices illegally brought into the country, and fulfilling necessary conditions to rectify their status. This registration process will be open for a specific period announced through official channels, after which legal action will be taken against violators.
