Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak monitored the damage caused by floods resulting from heavy rains that hit several governorates, particularly in a number of districts in Hajjah, Taiz, and Al Hudaydah. These floods have resulted in consequences and damage to infrastructure, citizens’ homes, and caused casualties and injuries.
The Prime Minister conducted extensive communications with the relevant ministers, governors of the affected governorates, emergency rooms, and executive units for managing IDP camps. He received initial reports from them regarding the damage and the efforts made to address it urgently. He emphasized the need to focus primarily on protecting citizens and warning them to stay away from valleys and waterways.
Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak directed that rescue and relief efforts for citizens and displaced individuals affected by the torrential rains be given top priority. He called for providing necessary alternatives for them in the most affected areas, implementing urgent measures to drain floodwaters, and mobilizing all available capabilities and resources for this purpose. He stressed the importance of assessing the damage and identifying the priorities for immediate intervention required to address this disaster.
The Prime Minister issued an urgent appeal to UN and international organizations to support the government’s efforts in providing urgent humanitarian and relief aid to those affected by the flood disaster and meeting their immediate needs.
