His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, received today, Sunday, Mr. Steven H. Fagin, the US Ambassador to Yemen.

The meeting touched upon the latest developments in the Yemeni situation, and developments in the region, including the ongoing Israeli violations against the Palestinian people, and their disastrous repercussions on international peace and security.

His Excellency the President affirmed Yemen’s firm position alongside the Palestinian people, and their right to establish their independent sovereign state on the basis of the Arab Initiative and relevant international legitimacy resolutions.

The President of the Leadership Council also renewed his welcome to the joint efforts of the Arab Republic of Egypt, the State of Qatar, and the United States of America, to achieve an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, resume negotiations, and end the painful human suffering.

The President of the Presidential Leadership Council briefed the US Ambassador on the national economic and humanitarian situation, which was exacerbated by the attacks of the terrorist Houthi militias, supported by the Iranian regime, on oil facilities and shipping vessels.

His Excellency the President also touched upon the effects of the natural disaster that struck the governorates of Hajjah, Hodeidah, Taiz, and Marib, referring to the international interventions required to support the government’s efforts to help those affected and repair destroyed services in the four governorates. The US Ambassador expressed his country’s readiness to intervene urgently in this regard, according to the assessments of international organizations and humanitarian partners in Yemen.
