Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak conducted a field visit to inspect the aftermath of an explosion that occurred on Friday evening at a gas station in Al-Mansoura District in the temporary capital, Aden. He reviewed preliminary reports on the incident, which resulted in several deaths and injuries.
The Prime Minister examined the site of the incident caused by the explosion of a tanker at a gas station located at the Hashid intersection on the Ninety Street in Al-Mansoura. He listened to the measures taken by the relevant authorities and the efforts of the civil defense teams to contain the fire. He directed an urgent investigation into the causes of the explosion, and the establishment of emergency plans and preventive measures to avoid similar incidents.
He also heard testimonies from local officials and residents near the station about the explosion, which caused panic among the residents of the temporary capital, Aden.
He was briefed by officials from the Ministry of Public Health and Population on the initial toll from the explosion, with three fatalities recorded and several injuries, some of whom were treated on-site by emergency and ambulance teams, while others were transported to hospitals.
Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak offered his condolences for the lives lost and checked on the condition of the injured, directing that they receive the necessary care until their recovery.
The Prime Minister also ordered a comprehensive review of the licenses issued to gas stations, especially those in residential areas, and called for an investigation and accountability of those violating safety standards. He emphasized the punishment of any official proven to be involved in issuing illegal permits for gas stations in residential neighborhoods, highlighting the severe risks this poses to residents. He affirmed that community safety must always be the utmost priority and that negligent officials should bear full responsibility for any lapses.
