Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak affirmed that the gas station explosion in Al-Mansoura district is a wake-up call to rectify existing deficiencies and end the state of chaos that prevailed during the previous period in this aspect. He stressed the need to hold accountable those negligent with the lives of citizens and ensure that no similar incidents occur again.
During a meeting he held today, Sunday, in the temporary capital, Aden, with the Director General of the Yemeni Oil and Gas Corporation, Mohammed Thabet, and the Executive Director of the Yemen Gas Company, Mohsen bin Waheit, the Prime Minister stressed the need for each party to take responsibility. He pledged to hold accountable all officials responsible for any negligence based on the results of the investigations that will be submitted by the committee assigned to investigate the explosion. He also emphasized the implementation of strict controls and procedures to end violations and chaos in the work of gas stations in Aden and other governorates, and the adoption of safety standards as a priority to protect citizens and society from any risks.
Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak directed the Gas Corporation and Company to stop supplying violating stations with gas, considering this a flaw that cannot be accepted or overlooked. He pointed out that there are strict and practical measures that will be taken based on the results of the investigation, which will be announced to the public. He also asserted that those responsible will be identified without hesitation, and any overlap in powers between central authorities and local authorities will be prevented.
The Prime Minister requested from the directors of the Gas Corporation and Company a report on the current situation in the operation of the stations, the existing deficiencies, and the aspects of cooperation required from the concerned authorities, centrally and locally, to eliminate the existing chaos and implement occupational safety standards. They affirmed that the gas supply situation is stable and available in large quantities, and that attempts by those affected by the reform of the deficiencies to create a crisis and raise concern among citizens will not succeed.
