The National Commission for Investigating Allegations of Human Rights Violations discussed, on Tuesday, in the Jordanian capital, Amman, with the Dutch Ambassador, Jeannette Seppen, and the European Union Ambassador to Yemen, Gabriel Munuera Viñals, the human rights situation in Yemen and mechanisms for its protection.

The Vice-Chairman of the Committee, Judge Hussein Al-Qadhi Hussein Al-Mashdali, and the members of the Committee, Judge Sabah Alwani, and Judge Ashraf Al- Maqtari, addressed the human rights situation and the Committee’s efforts in investigating violations and activating accountability, especially civil rights, the rights of detainees, and the work of civil society. They also highlighted the key findings of the investigations into recent violations, which were reflected in the twelfth report issued by the Committee at the beginning of September, and the recommendations supporting the improvement of the human rights environment in Yemen.

The Dutch Ambassador affirmed that her country and the European Union are following the great, diligent, and arduous work that the Committee is doing in investigation, field presence, and endeavors to release detainees. She renewed the keenness to strengthen state institutions, contribute to institutional building, ensure the continuation of the work of the National Investigation Committee, and reach victims in all governorates to limit violations and improve the situation in Yemen.
