The Permanent Representative of Yemen to the United Nations, Ambassador Abdullah Al-Saadi, discussed with the UN Under-Secretary-General for Counter-Terrorism, Vladimir Voronkov, ways to enhance and develop bilateral cooperation in the field of counter-terrorism and law enforcement, and to strengthen Yemen’s capabilities in combating this phenomenon.
Ambassador Al-Saadi stressed the importance of providing support to Yemen, represented in strengthening the implementation of national strategies, building capabilities, strengthening the legal and institutional framework, training needs, and the importance of building national capacities in the field of information gathering and assessment, and enhancing regional and international cooperation to combat terrorist threats in the region.
Ambassador Al-Saadi pointed out the importance of continued coordination and partnership to enhance security and stability in Yemen and the region.
For his part, the Under-Secretary-General for Counter-Terrorism stressed the importance of unifying efforts to combat this phenomenon, and mobilizing international and regional support to enhance the capabilities of member states. He also expressed the readiness of his office to provide support to the Yemeni government.
