On Tuesday, Dr. Shaya’ Al-Zindani, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, chaired the consultative meeting of Arab Foreign Ministers held in New York on the sidelines of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Minister Al-Zindani emphasized that the meeting comes two weeks after the 162nd regular session of the Council of the Arab League at the ministerial level in Cairo, Egypt, which focused its work on supporting the Palestinian cause and confronting the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip. This session resulted in several decisions concerning Palestine, including specific directives for the Arab group to follow up these issues with the Security Council and the UN General Assembly.

The meeting included discussions and deliberations on the latest developments in Palestine, the escalation of Israeli aggression against Lebanon, and coordination of Arab positions regarding the agenda of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly.

The ministers listened to a briefing by the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Palestine, Mohammed Mustafa, on the latest developments of the Palestinian cause, and the follow-up on matters related to Palestine at the UN General Assembly and its various committees, especially the implementation of the General Assembly’s resolution to end Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories.

The Arab ministers stressed the need for coordinated Arab positions on various resolutions, primarily those concerning Palestine, to ensure support for Palestinian rights and to continue defending international legitimacy resolutions related to the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people. They renewed their solidarity with Lebanon and the Lebanese people in facing the Israeli aggression, warning of the serious implications of this aggression which threatens to explode the regional situation with painful consequences for all.

The meeting confirmed full solidarity with Lebanon, government and people, and expressed its strong condemnation of the escalating Israeli aggression, particularly since the morning of Tuesday, September 23, which resulted in the death of 357 civilians and injuries to 1,250 others with various injuries.

The meeting also expressed full support for Lebanon in facing the aggression, holding Israel responsible for this dangerous escalation, and warned against the repercussions of launching a wide-scale aggression on Lebanon in light of recent developments that could lead to an all-out regional war, threatening the security and stability of the entire region.

The ministers agreed on the importance of coordination with member states of the Islamic group in the coming days to deliver a clear message to the international community on the necessity to immediately stop the Israeli aggressive war.

The meeting also addressed developments regarding the brutal war waged by Israel on Gaza as well as the dangerous Israeli escalation against Lebanon.
