Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak emphasized the government’s keenness to support the activation of the role of the General Corporation for Agricultural Services to fulfill its responsibilities in providing agricultural inputs, supervising the importation of fertilizers and seeds, and offering its services to farmers as part of efforts to achieve food security and address current global developments.

This was stated during the Prime Minister’s visit on Sunday to the headquarters of the General Corporation for Agricultural Services, where he was received by the Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Fisheries, Salem al-Socotri, and the General Director of the Corporation, Engineer Fahmi Al-Ghatnani. During the visit, he was briefed on its role in supplying agricultural inputs and farmers’ needs, contributing to increasing agricultural production levels.

Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak listened to an explanation about the ongoing vision to restore the leading role of the corporation and its branches in Shabwa and Hadhramaut, providing more facilities and agricultural, productive, and marketing guidance to farmers.

The Prime Minister stressed the need to double efforts and work in an integrated manner to achieve the government’s plan to increase agricultural production for food security and reduce import bills, pointing out the importance of preserving the assets and properties of the corporation, and working with a different vision focusing on projects with economic and productive feasibility in the agricultural sector.

Additionally, Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak visited the netting and agricultural equipment factory affiliated with the General Corporation for Agricultural Services, which produces mesh fences.

The Prime Minister, along with the Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Fisheries, was briefed by the factory director Ali Qahtan and the staff on the production and marketing levels, as well as the current needs to expand the factory’s activities to meet market demands.

The Prime Minister directed the reactivation of the decision mandating government entities to purchase their needs from the factory, as well as to prepare necessary studies to expand the factory’s activities and diversify its production to include agricultural equipment.
