Othman Mujalli, member of the Presidential Leadership Council, met on Sunday with the United Kingdom’s Ambassador to Yemen, Abda Sharif.

The meeting discussed bilateral relations between the two countries, mutual interests, local and regional developments, continuous coordination in combating terrorism, supporting the economy, and the programs of the Yemeni government.

Mujalli expressed surprise at the silence of international organizations regarding the terrorism and oppression committed by the Houthi terrorist militias, who continue to kidnap, hide, and mistreat humanitarian workers and innocent citizens in the areas under their control.

He added that the international community is now concerned with understanding the true nature of this terrorist group after the Houthis’ hostile behaviors, which they had previously concealed while claiming victimhood, became evident. They have committed heinous crimes against the Yemeni people over the past two decades, noting that this behavior has been the approach of the Houthi movement, supported by Iran, since its inception in the caves of Saada.

Mujalli also pointed out Iran’s exploitation of the international confusion, Yemen’s strategic location, and its rugged terrain to support the Houthi movement and invest in it for its destructive projects aimed at economically strangling the world, as clearly seen in attacks on ships and neighboring countries, and the mining of the Red Sea.

He affirmed that Operation Decisive Storm and the Coalition to Support Legitimacy have greatly contributed to thwarting the Houthi project supported by the Iranian regime, limiting its ability to carry out its plans. He highlighted the generous support provided by brothers in Saudi Arabia and the UAE financially, economically, and humanitarianly, and their efforts towards achieving security, stability, and building the national army.

Mujalli also mentioned the responsibility on the international community to support the Leadership Council and the government, equip the national army to face dangers, transform liberated areas into work zones to overcome economic complexities, and strengthen the Central Bank’s position to protect the national currency.

He condemned the brutal crimes committed by the Israeli entity against citizens in Gaza and Lebanon, the destruction of residential buildings and civilian infrastructure indiscriminately, in crimes that conflict with humanitarian and international law and the protection of vulnerable groups. He emphasized the need for international and British pressure to stop the Zionist arrogance that destroys all aspects of life and continues to provoke Arabs and Muslims.

In turn, the UK Ambassador to Yemen, Abda Sharif, expressed her country’s continued full support for the Leadership Council and the government to overcome challenges and work on building and strengthening the economic and political system in Yemen through regional and international partners.
