Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Awad Bin Mubarak praised Canada’s steadfast support for Yemen, the Presidential Leadership Council, and the government, as well as the assistance provided in humanitarian and relief aspects. He expressed his aspiration to establish developmental partnerships and activate bilateral cooperation in several fields, serving the mutual interests of both countries and their friendly peoples.

This came during Prime Minister’s reception on Thursday, in the interim capital Aden, of Canada’s new ambassador to Yemen, Jean-Philippe Linteau, on the occasion of beginning his diplomatic duties, following the presentation of his credentials to His Excellency the President of the Presidential Leadership Council.

During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations between the two countries, the mutual interest in opening new horizons for cooperation in various fields, in addition to developments at the national, regional, and international levels, including the Israeli aggression on Gaza and Lebanon, and the Houthi terrorist attacks targeting international shipping in the Red Sea.

Dr. Ahmed Awad Bin Mubarak welcomed the Canadian Ambassador, conveying his greetings to his counterpart Justin Trudeau, appreciating Canada’s stance alongside the Yemeni people and their aspirations to complete the restoration of state institutions and end the coup. He affirmed that the ambassador would receive all forms of cooperation from the government to succeed in his mission of developing and enhancing mutual interests.

The Prime Minister reviewed the challenges facing the government in economic, financial, and service aspects, what it is doing to address these issues, the five main tracks, and the reforms being worked on, as well as the international support needed to bolster its efforts in this exceptional phase.

In turn, Ambassador Linteau conveyed the greetings of the Canadian government to the Prime Minister, emphasizing the keenness to strengthen the bonds of friendship with Yemen and to develop bilateral cooperation at various levels. He confirmed that the reform vision of the Yemeni government would be effective in overcoming the existing exceptional challenges, with his country’s support.
