His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, met today, Wednesday, with Ms. Abda Sharif, the United Kingdom’s Ambassador to Yemen.

The meeting discussed bilateral relations, the latest national and regional developments, and ways to coordinate between the two friendly countries on various issues of common interest.

The meeting also addressed the course of government reforms and the international support needed to mitigate the disastrous consequences of Houthi terrorist attacks on oil facilities and shipping vessels.

The President of the Presidential Leadership Council praised the distinguished bilateral relations between the Republic of Yemen and the United Kingdom, as well as British humanitarian and development interventions across various fields. He expressed hope for international support for the economic rescue plan and its urgent measures to strengthen the national currency.

President Al-Alimi reiterated the Council and government’s commitment to a comprehensive and just peace approach based on agreed national, regional, and international references and openness to all initiatives that could ease the suffering of the Yemeni people, which has been caused by the Iranian-backed Houthi terrorist militias.

The President also affirmed Yemen’s steadfast stance regarding developments in the region, foremost of which is the Palestinian people’s right to establish their own independent and fully sovereign state. He supported all efforts aimed at achieving their legitimate aspirations, including Saudi Arabia’s initiative regarding the two-state solution in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
