Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak affirmed that the continued interaction of the United Nations and the international community with the terrorist Houthi militia in the same manner, ignoring their violations and crimes, which have escalated to campaigns of repression, kidnapping, and abuse against UN and international staff, will not lead to the achievement of peace.

The Prime Minister, upon receiving on Wednesday in the temporary capital Aden, the Deputy Special Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General to Yemen, Sarhad Fattah, and his accompanying delegation, reiterated the Yemeni government’s support for the efforts of the UN envoy and all international and regional efforts aimed at ending the war and achieving peace.

Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak listened to a briefing from the UN Deputy Envoy about the outcomes of recent movements at the national, regional, and international levels to de-escalate tensions, and the priorities for the forthcoming phase to revive the political process, which has been undermined by the Houthi militia with support from the Iranian regime.

The discussions also covered the continued obstruction by the Houthi militia of economic agreements and their repercussions on the catastrophic humanitarian situation, and the responsibilities of the United Nations. The Prime Minister reaffirmed the government’s stance and its positive engagement with all regional and international efforts to reach a comprehensive political settlement based on the agreed local references, supported regionally and internationally. He emphasized the importance of the international community’s unity regarding the Yemeni issue and listening to the aspirations of the Yemeni people for stability and peace.
