On Tuesday, on the sidelines of his participation in the Climate Summit (COP29) held in the Azerbaijani capital Baku, Dr. Abdullah Al-Alimi, member of the Presidential Leadership Council, discussed with the Crown Prince of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II, ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries and develop joint cooperation in various fields.
The two sides reviewed the developments in Yemen, the ongoing events in the Red Sea, and the continued intransigence of the Houthi militias and their rejection of all efforts aimed at achieving a just and comprehensive peace, as well as alleviating the humanitarian crisis suffered by the Yemeni people.
They also discussed activating the Joint High Committee, chaired by the prime ministers of both countries, as well as resuming Royal Jordanian Airlines flights to Aden International Airport.
The member of the Presidential Leadership Council and the Jordanian Crown Prince also discussed the escalating Israeli aggression on Palestinian and Lebanese territories, stressing the importance of Arab and Islamic solidarity on this central issue.
Dr. Abdullah Al-Alimi praised the strong historical ties that unite the two brotherly countries and peoples, appreciating the steadfast positions of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in supporting legitimacy and its pivotal role in assisting the Yemeni government and standing by the Yemeni people in the face of current challenges. He expressed his gratitude to Jordan for hosting Yemenis who sought refuge there, fleeing the hostile practices of the Houthi militias.
For his part, the Jordanian Crown Prince affirmed the depth and strength of the fraternal relations between the two countries and peoples, and Jordan’s commitment, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein, to always stand by all that benefits Yemen and its people.
