President Rashad Al-Alimi, head of the Presidential Leadership Council, left Aden on Wednesday for the 33rd Arab Summit in Manama, Bahrain. He was accompanied by council members Abdulrahman Al-Mahrami and Uthman Mujalli.
Al-Alimi will address the summit, which comes amidst the complex situation of the ongoing Israeli war against the Palestinian people and their right to an independent state, as per international law and the Arab Peace Initiative.
The summit will also discuss the situation in several Arab countries, including the humanitarian crisis and opportunities for peace and stability in the region.
The Yemeni news agency Saba reported that Al-Alimi held intensive meetings with the government, ministers, and officials responsible for the economic, financial, and service sectors, stressing the need to address the country’s living crisis and provide urgent solutions to alleviate the suffering of citizens.
His excellency expressed his deep sorrow over the difficult humanitarian conditions exacerbated by Houthi attacks on oil facilities and international shipping routes. He affirmed that the Presidential Leadership Council and the government are fully aware of the suffering of the Yemeni people, including the painful effects of the recurring electricity shortages as summer approaches. He stressed the implementation of his directives to the government to ensure that these shortages do not repeat and that power generation is sustainable. He also emphasized the need to avoid temporary solutions and to continue working internally to fulfill the state’s obligations.
