He praised the Arab leaders’ stance at the summit on the Yemeni issue, who reaffirmed their steadfast support for the Presidential Leadership Council, and support for the government’s efforts in seeking to alleviate humanitarian suffering, and achieve peace, security, and stability in the country.
His Excellency President Al-Alimi reiterated Yemen’s historical and principled position alongside the resilient Palestinian people, and their right to establish their independent state with full sovereignty.
The works of the 33rd Arab Summit, the “Bahrain Summit,” held in Manama, concluded with a series of important decisions supporting Yemen, reaffirming the Arab stance on the Palestinian issue, and enhancing joint Arab action.
In conclusion, the Arab leaders in the summit statement reaffirmed their steadfast support for the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council led by Dr. Rashad Muhammad Al-Alimi, and support for the Yemeni government’s efforts to achieve national reconciliation among all components of the Yemeni people, and unite the Yemeni front to achieve security and stability in Yemen.
The statement expressed support for international and regional efforts aimed at reaching a comprehensive political solution to the Yemeni crisis in accordance with internationally recognized references, represented in the Gulf Initiative and its executive mechanism, the outcomes of the Yemeni National Dialogue, and UN Security Council Resolution 2216, to achieve the collective goal of realizing the legitimate aspirations of the Yemeni people for peace, stability, development, and prosperity.
The Arab leaders strongly rejected any support for armed groups operating outside the sovereignty of states, following or implementing external agendas that contradict the supreme interests of Arab countries, emphasizing solidarity with all Arab countries in defending their sovereignty, territorial integrity, and protecting their national institutions against any external attempts to aggress, impose influence, undermine sovereignty, or jeopardize Arab interests.
The Arab leaders reiterated their commitment to the Palestinian cause, emphasizing that its resolution is key to achieving security and stability in the region, and their steadfast support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to establish their independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders, with its capital in East Jerusalem, and the right of return for Palestinian refugees.
During his speech at the 33rd regular session of the Arab Summit held in Bahrain, President Al-Alimi stated: “The Palestinian cause remains and will remain the first central issue for the Yemeni people, even during the Cairo war imposed by the Houthis.”
He also emphasized the importance of distinguishing between these positions, responsible official support efforts aimed at finding real solutions to the Palestinian issue, opportunistic attempts to exploit the crisis to achieve political gains in the region, and false claims that have only harmed the interests of our peoples, economies, and national security, and diverted international attention away from the hell of occupation in Palestinian territories.
On the sidelines of the Arab Bahrain Summit, President Dr. Rashad Muhammad Al-Alimi, the Special Envoy of the Russian President to the Middle East and African countries, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, discussed the longstanding bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and promising opportunities to expand and enhance them in various fields.
The meeting also addressed the developments in the Yemeni situation, the developments in the Red Sea, and the Russian efforts required to contain their devastating repercussions on living conditions and international peace and security.
President Al-Alimi also met with His Excellency President Abdul-Fattah Al-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, to discuss the distinguished bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries, regional and international issues of common interest, once again expressing his great gratitude and appreciation for Egypt’s honorable stance alongside the Yemeni people, alleviating their humanitarian suffering, and achieving their aspirations to restore state institutions, peace, stability, and development.
