Member of the Presidential Leadership Council and Governor of Marib, Major General Sultan Al-Arada, discussed on Monday with the Ambassadors of the European Union countries to Yemen several issues and files of common interest between our country and their countries locally, regionally, and internationally.

During the call, the PLC Member discussed with the EU Ambassadors the latest developments in the Yemeni situation at the political, economic, military, and security levels, and the repercussions of the humanitarian crisis and the difficult living conditions that most Yemenis are experiencing as a result of the continuation of the aggressive war ignited by the terrorist Houthi militias in our country a decade ago, and the continuation of their attacks on our people with direct support from the Iranian regime. He praised the distinguished Yemeni-European relations in all fields and the interest of the European Union countries in the humanitarian and development situation in Yemen and their significant contributions to alleviating the suffering of Yemenis during the past years.

Al-Arada reiterated the Presidential Leadership Council’s commitment to supporting the efforts of the UN Special Envoy to Yemen and the success of his efforts and all efforts aimed at achieving a comprehensive, just, and sustainable peace in Yemen, in accordance with the locally, regionally, and internationally agreed-upon references, in a way that meets the demands of Yemenis and achieves their aspirations to end the coup and restore state institutions. He pointed out the real threats to the peace process in Yemen and the failure of all regional and international negotiations and efforts aimed at achieving it in light of the Houthi militias’ continued escalation in the Red Sea and on all fronts in the country, and their insistence on implementing the agenda of their supporters in Tehran aimed at turning Yemen into an arena for its regional and international conflicts.

The PLC member warned against the international community’s continued disregard for the Houthi’s relentless endeavors to consolidate Yemen’s subordination to the Wilayat al-Faqih regime, which seeks to exploit its important geopolitical location to achieve its expansionist ambitions and make it an advanced base for carrying out its activities that destabilize security and stability in Yemen and the region, and threaten maritime navigation in one of the most important waterways for global trade.

For their part, the EU Ambassadors affirmed their countries’ continued support for the Presidential Leadership Council, chaired by His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Muhammad Al-Alimi, and the members of the Council and the government, to implement political and economic reforms and achieve stability in living and service conditions in Yemen. They expressed their appreciation for the Presidential Leadership Council’s keenness on the success of all regional and international efforts aimed at achieving comprehensive peace in Yemen.
