On Sunday, Sultan Al-Arada, member of the Presidential Leadership Council, was briefed by the Chief of the General Staff and Commander of Joint Operations, Lieutenant General Sagheer Hamood bin Aziz, on the outcomes of his foreign visits to the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States of America, as well as his various field visits.
Al-Arada emphasized during his reception of the Chief of Staff the importance of these external visits and their role in enhancing cooperation and coordination between the Yemeni Armed Forces and their counterparts in friendly and brotherly countries.
He stressed the necessity of utilizing the support from brothers and friends to build, enhance, and develop the capabilities of the Armed Forces to fulfill their national roles and responsibilities in protecting Yemen, its sovereignty, restoring state institutions, extending government control over the entire national territory, and achieving peace, security, and stability. He commended the efforts of the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff in this regard, their progress in institutional building of the military establishment, and the ongoing specialized training of its members despite the challenging circumstances and significant challenges facing the nation.
For his part, the Chief of the General Staff reviewed the results of discussions he held with Saudi and American officials on various issues and files of mutual interest between our country and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on one side, and Yemen and the United States on the other, foremost among them enhancing bilateral cooperation and coordination in the military and security fields.
He indicated that these discussions mainly focused on the need to intensify support programs and training for the Yemeni Armed Forces to be an effective partner in maintaining security and stability in Yemen, securing international shipping lanes and global interests, and combating terrorism and smuggling, with a primary focus on combating the terrorism of the Houthi group.
