Yemeni Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Shaya’ Al-Zindani, emphasized the strength of relations between Yemen and Egypt, describing them as “distinguished and deeply rooted,” praising Egypt’s supportive role for the Yemeni people and standing by Yemen’s unity, security, and stability.
During an interview on Cairo News Channel yesterday, Saturday, Al-Zindani noted that Egypt has always supported Yemen in various circumstances.
He revealed that the strategic dialogue between Egypt and Yemen focused on tensions in Bab al-Mandab, in addition to the Palestinian cause, which is a priority for both countries.
Al-Zindani reiterated Yemen’s supportive position on the Palestinian cause, emphasizing that the Israeli aggression aims to eliminate the cause. He stated that there are no solutions on the horizon for the Gaza crisis due to Israel’s lack of seriousness.
He explained that the Red Sea tensions have negatively impacted the economic situation in Yemen. He added that the Houthi attacks in the region aim to gain popular support, while their control over Bab al-Mandab hinders the arrival of ships to Yemeni ports.
Al-Zindani criticized the Houthi group for not seeking a political solution and relying on the principle of force, and stressed that there are no indications so far of a resumption of negotiations between the Yemeni parties, or any seriousness in implementing UN resolutions regarding the crisis.
He said: “The Yemeni government’s vision is to adhere to international legitimacy resolutions, and we strive for peace and do not rule out the military option.”
Al-Zindani also considered that the international community’s support does not correspond to the magnitude of the crisis in Yemen, stressing that the humanitarian situation would have been much worse had it not been for Arab support for Yemen.
