Khaled Bahah, Yemen’s Ambassador to the Arab Republic of Egypt, discussed on Monday with Ambassador Walid Hajjaj, Director of the Egyptian Diplomatic Institute, ways to enhance cooperation and qualify and train Yemeni diplomatic personnel. This comes in accordance with the outcomes of the eighth round of the Yemeni-Egyptian strategic dialogue, which was held under the chairmanship of the two countries’ foreign ministers last June.

Ambassador Bahah touched upon the increasing need to qualify new diplomatic cadres in light of the circumstances our country is going through and the suspension of the Yemeni Diplomatic Institute’s work after the Houthi terrorist militia stormed the capital, Sana’a, in 2014. He also mentioned the halt in appointing new batches to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs due to the war. He praised the Egyptian Diplomatic Institute and the qualification programs it provides to Egyptian diplomatic cadres and other cadres from the region, as well as its role in preparing batches of qualified diplomats to represent their countries in various countries and international organizations.

For his part, Ambassador Hajjaj affirmed the readiness of the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, represented by the Diplomatic Institute, to cooperate in qualifying Yemeni diplomatic cadres according to the best scientific standards. He pointed to the depth of bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries and peoples and the special importance that Yemen represents to Egypt.

Afterwards, Ambassador Hajjaj accompanied Ambassador Bahah on an introductory tour of the institute.
