On Tuesday, Yemen’s Ambassador to Paris, Dr. Riyadh Yaseen, met with Natalie Goulet, a member of the French Senate and Chairwoman of the Finance Committee, to discuss the latest developments in Yemen and the role of the international community in achieving stability and peace.

During the meeting, Ambassador Yaseen reviewed the current situation in Yemen, highlighting the deterioration of the humanitarian conditions resulting from the coup by the terrorist Houthi militia against the state, and their rejection of peace calls based on key references such as the Gulf Initiative and its Implementation Mechanism, the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference, and UN Security Council Resolution 2216. He indicated the urgent need for international support to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people.

The meeting also touched upon the violations committed by the Houthi militias against civilians, including indiscriminate shelling and forced child recruitment, as well as obstructing humanitarian aid from reaching those in need, which has exacerbated the humanitarian crisis in the country.

Ambassador Yaseen pointed out the threats posed by the Houthi militias to international navigation in the Red Sea, warning of the recurrence of attacks targeting commercial ships and oil tankers, which pose a risk to regional and international security and stability, as well as their negative impact on the marine environment. He called on the international community to take a firm stance to ensure the safety and security of maritime routes.

For her part, the French Senator expressed her deep concern about the escalation of Houthi militia violations against the Yemeni people and their threats to international navigation, affirming France’s support for Yemen.

She emphasized the necessity of intensifying international pressure on the Houthis to comply with international laws and stop their violations, confirming France’s commitment to cooperating with international partners to achieve peace and stability in Yemen.
