The Chief of the General Staff and Commander of Joint Operations, Lieutenant General Sagheer bin Aziz, discussed aspects of bilateral cooperation in the military and security fields, maritime security, counter-terrorism, and smuggling with a number of ambassadors and military attachés of a number of sisterly and friendly countries.

During his visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Chief of the General Staff met with the French Ambassador to Yemen, Catherine corm kammoun, the Chargé d’Affaires of the Chinese Embassy, Shao Zheng, the Military Advisor to the Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General to Yemen, Anthony Hayward, the Military and Security Attaché at the US Embassy, Stewart Peoples, the Military Attaché at the British Embassy, Colonel Jonathan Fream, and the Military Attaché at the Saudi Embassy in Yemen, Colonel Khalid Al-Shahrani.

During those meetings, they reviewed the latest developments in the military and security situation in Yemen, and the current developments on the regional and international scene, in light of the escalation of the Houthi militia’s aggressive operations against the Yemeni people, the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, and their threats to national and regional security and the security of international maritime navigation.

They also discussed the mechanisms and ways to develop coordinated efforts and bilateral cooperation with sisterly and friendly countries in order to achieve national interests and face common challenges, support the Yemeni armed forces, develop their capabilities, and enhance their readiness.

The Chief of the General Staff expressed his aspiration for further cooperation and support programs for the Yemeni armed forces in the fields of training, logistics, technology, and information exchange, which would qualify them to be an effective partner in the efforts to combat terrorism and smuggling, and strengthen maritime security and international maritime navigation.
