The Deputy Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Dr. Nizar Basheeb, met on Wednesday in the temporary capital Aden with the Swiss Ambassador to Yemen, Thomas Oertle, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation and partnership between the two friendly countries.

The meeting, attended by the Undersecretary of the Ministry for the International Cooperation Sector Omar Abdulaziz and the Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry Mansour Zaid, touched on various topics related to the challenges facing the government in humanitarian and economic aspects, the impact of reduced international funding on Yemen’s humanitarian response plan, and efforts in joint coordination with international organizations to balance interventions and projects during the gradual transition to phases of development and sustainability.

In the meeting, the Deputy Minister of Planning and International Cooperation appreciated the various forms of support provided by the Swiss government to the Yemeni government and people to alleviate the severity of the humanitarian catastrophe resulting from the Houthi militias’ coup… He also highlighted the necessity for continued support to the government and its various institutions to carry out their duties and meet citizens’ needs, especially in the fields of education, health, and water.

Basheeb reviewed the government’s priorities for improving the general conditions of the country and the plans being implemented in partnership and coordination with the international community.

For his part, the Swiss Ambassador affirmed his government’s commitment to continuing joint efforts, strengthening relations, and expanding cooperation with the Yemeni government in various fields.
