The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Affairs, Dr. Shaya’ Al-Zindani, participated on Friday in the ministerial meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, held on the sidelines of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Regarding the situation in Yemen, the Foreign Minister pointed out that peace efforts are still at a standstill, and the suffering of the Yemeni people is worsening due to the intransigence of the Houthi militias and their systematic economic war against the government and the Yemeni people. He mentioned that the Houthi militias continue their military escalation in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab, threatening the safety of international navigation and the marine environment, thereby endangering international peace and security. This situation requires a unified international stance to pressure the Houthis to end this escalation and return to the path of peace.

The Minister expressed his appreciation to the member states of the organization for their support of our country’s government, emphasizing the importance of adhering to the principles and decisions of the organization related to the Yemeni issue, including the recent “Yaounde” declaration which rejects interference in Yemen’s internal affairs, stands in solidarity with the Yemeni people, and supports the Presidential Leadership Council. He expressed his hope to enhance this support to end the crisis and normalize the situation politically, security-wise, and economically.
