The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs, Dr. Shaya’ Al-Zindani, received on Tuesday in the temporary capital Aden, the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization, Arsenio Dominguez.
Minister Al-Zindani welcomed the visit of the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization to Aden, noting its importance as the first visit by the head of the organization to Yemen, which contributes to enhancing cooperation ties between the organization and Yemen, especially amidst the increasing challenges facing international navigation in the region.
Both parties reviewed the security situation in the Red Sea and the ongoing threats to commercial ships due to Houthi attacks in this vital sea lane, as well as ways to support Yemen in facing environmental risks threatening the marine environment due to recent developments and Houthi threats in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.
They also discussed means to enhance the capabilities of the agencies concerned with maritime security and safety in Yemen, and improving the efficiency of the coast guard to deal with escalating challenges.
