Media Analysis

International, Arab, and local media have covered the Yemeni file in all its political, humanitarian, military, economic, etc. aspects. Politically, the U.S. Treasury Department announced sanctions against Yemeni businessman and parliament member Hamid Al-Ahmar, on charges of supporting Hamas. On the humanitarian aspect, there has been extensive coverage due to the worsening of the humanitarian crisis. As for the military aspect, it has seen intensified coverage over the past weeks. Media outlets have reported that U.S.-British airstrikes targeted several areas controlled by the “Ansar Allah” group (Houthis), including Sanaa, Hodeidah Airport, and areas south of Dhamar. The U.S. Central Command “CENTCOM” confirmed executing strikes on 15 targets belonging to the “Ansar Allah” group, noting that the targets included their offensive military capabilities. On his part, Abdul Malik Al-Houthi, the group’s leader, confirmed the targeting of 193 ships linked to Israel, the United States, and Britain, and launching over 1000 missiles and drones in support of Gaza since the beginning of the aggression on the sector a year ago. Furthermore, the Houthis announced on Thursday evening an attack on an American oil tanker in the Red Sea using 11 ballistic missiles and two drones, claiming a “severe hit.”
