Media Analysis

International, Arab, and local media covered the Yemeni file in all its political, humanitarian, military, economic, etc. aspects. Politically, the UN Special Envoy for Yemen, Hans Grundberg, warned of the risks of escalation in the Middle East impacting Yemen’s situation, urging all parties to commit to peace through decisive actions. As for the humanitarian aspect, it witnessed widespread coverage due to the worsening humanitarian crisis, with the World Bank warning about the insecurity in the Red Sea and its repercussions on Yemen’s food supply, noting an increase in food insecurity, with over a million additional people affected this year. The military aspect also witnessed broader media coverage than in previous weeks, as on Tuesday, the “Ansar Allah” group (Houthis) announced that the US-UK coalition launched four airstrikes on Al Hudaydah Governorate. By Thursday, they stated that the US and UK had conducted 15 airstrikes on Sana’a and Saada, using American B-2 strategic bombers. The group also announced they targeted 196 vessels connected to Israel, the US, and the UK over 11 months, in support of Gaza.
