Media Analysis

International, Arab and local media outlets addressed the Yemeni file in all its political, humanitarian, military, and economic aspects…etc. On the political level, the statement of Mohammed Al-Bukhiti, a member of the political bureau of the “Ansar Allah” group (Houthis), caused a wide media uproar, as he claimed that the United States offered to recognize their government in Sana’a in exchange for stopping the group’s attacks. A US official was quick to deny these statements, describing them as “false.” As for the humanitarian side, the exacerbation of the humanitarian crisis has received extensive coverage, especially after the United Nations humanitarian Chief announced the organization’s reduction of its activities in Yemen, in response to a campaign launched by the “Ansar Allah” group (Houthis) against workers in United Nations and humanitarian organizations. The military side also witnessed wider media coverage than in previous weeks. The military media covered the announcement by the military spokesman for the Yemeni “Ansar Allah” group (Houthis), Brigadier General Yahya Saree, on Sunday, that the group’s forces had carried out a “qualitative military operation” against a military target in the city of Jaffa in Israel, with a new hypersonic ballistic missile. The group also announced, on Monday, that it had shot down an American MQ-9 drone, while it was carrying out “hostile” acts in the airspace of Dhamar Governorate, northern Yemen, in an incident that is the third of its kind within a week.
