A meeting chaired by Presidential Leadership Council member Major General Sultan Al-Arada and Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Awad Bin Mubarak discussed the ongoing operations in oil and gas companies and institutions in Marib Governorate, and the level of implementing reforms related to them within the general directives to enhance transparency, accountability, and combat corruption.
Officials from oil and gas companies and institutions presented reports on performance levels, existing challenges, and development proposals to ensure the utilization of available potentials in this vital sector, which constitutes an important tributary to the national economy.
During the meeting, Major General Sultan Al-Arada emphasized the need to address the existing challenges, improve the work environment, and increase the efficiency of institutions operating in this vital sector. He stressed the importance of boosting productivity and achieving the highest levels of efficiency and transparency to improve the performance of the oil and gas sector in liberated governorates and enhance its role in supporting the national economy.
Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Awad Bin Mubarak, during the meeting, stressed the necessity of completing several fundamental tasks, including enhancing the efficiency of institutions in the oil and gas sector, governing their performance, working to fully restore their operational capacities, building international partnerships to develop and improve the sector, as well as enforcing strict oversight to combat corruption. He pointed out that the government’s success in executing its primary priorities significantly depends on resource development.
Dr. Ahmed Awad Bin Mubarak confirmed the adoption of transparency and accountability in all activities of oil and gas companies and institutions as part of the government’s general direction in this regard. He highlighted the importance of correcting imbalances at any level, confronting existing problems rather than avoiding them, and governing performance.
The meeting was attended by Ministers of Finance Salem Bin Breik, Electricity and Energy Engineer Mana’a Bin Yameen, Director of the Prime Minister’s Office Engineer Anis Baharitha, Prime Minister’s Advisor Ambassador Mujib Othman, the head of the General Corporation for Oil and Gas Mohammed Awad Thabit, and the Executive Director of the Rapid Response Unit Jamal Ben Ghanem.
