Ankara, Turkey – Dr. Khaled Al-Wasabi, Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research, Technical Education and Vocational Training, signed a memorandum of understanding and a cooperation protocol in the fields of higher education and scientific research with Dr. Erol Özvar, President of the Turkish Higher Education Council, on Friday in the Turkish capital Ankara.
The memorandum of understanding aims to strengthen institutional cooperation, organize academic and scientific exchange between higher education institutions in the two countries, establish, implement and develop joint diploma programs at the bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral levels, as well as enhance cooperation in the field of scholarships, and provide more facilities for Yemeni students, as well as cooperation in the field of distance education.
It also aims to support the educational and training mobility of students, faculty members and researchers in higher education institutions in the two countries, within the framework of short-term research programs, exchange of educational experiences, organization of joint workshops and seminars, and mutual university visits.
As for the protocol, which lasts for three renewable years, it stipulates that the Turkish Higher Education Council will provide the necessary support and information to Yemeni universities to benefit from the experiences of higher education institutions in Turkey.
The signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Mazen Al-Jafri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education for Scholarships and International Relations, and Mohammed Saleh Turaiq, Ambassador of Yemen to Turkey.
