The Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Dr. Waed Badhib, met on Thursday with Dr. Rola Dashti, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Secretary of ESCWA, on the sidelines of the High-Level Political Forum in New York City. The meeting focused on aspects of support and cooperation between ESCWA and Yemen.
The Minister of Planning and International Cooperation commended ESCWA’s efforts in providing technical and advisory support to Yemen in various fields, including the preparation of the first Voluntary National Review. He further highlighted the importance of ESCWA’s support in several areas, such as renewable energy, climate change, agricultural productivity enhancement, and capacity building through the ” Coursera ” platform, which ESCWA utilizes to train over five thousand employees in various fields related to public service.
The Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of ESCWA emphasized ESCWA’s continued support to Yemen during this critical stage, particularly in capacity building and strengthening the resilience of various sectors, including agriculture, fisheries, and others.
