Minister of Youth and Sports, Nayef Al-Bakri, met on Tuesday with the Deputy Regional Representative of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), Luciano Calestini, and the Youth and Adolescents Programme Consultant, Sarah Shouman. The meeting focused on several issues related to UNICEF’s youth strategy and ways to unify efforts and coordinate with relevant authorities.

During the meeting, attended by the Deputy Minister, Saleh Al-Faqih, and the Undersecretary of the Planning and Information Systems Sector, Wijdan Al-Shuaibi, Minister Al-Bakri praised the distinguished relationship and partnership with UNICEF. He affirmed the ministry’s readiness to work on youth-related matters and support their issues, considering them the most influential segment of society. He emphasized the importance of directing them towards education, training and qualification programs, and various creative arts.

For his part, Luciano commended the efforts of the Ministry of Youth and Sports in various fields. He stressed his organization’s keenness to create a genuine partnership with the Ministry and support its programs and projects. He indicated that UNICEF is striving to implement its youth strategy.

In the same context, Sarah Shouman, the Youth and Adolescents Programme Consultant at UNICEF, stated, “The work program includes three main pillars that the organization seeks to translate into reality through an action plan. This plan aims to ensure the engagement of all young men and women in education, training, and employment, as well as communication, participation, and coordination with relevant parties.”
