Dr. Waed Badhib, Yemen’s Governor to the World Bank Group and the Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, participated on Saturday in a meeting of Arab Governors with the World Bank President Ajay Banga in Washington, D.C.
During the meeting, Dr. Badhib emphasized the necessity for the World Bank Group to adopt a unified approach focusing on job agendas and economic transformation, especially in countries suffering from fragility and conflict like Yemen. He praised the leadership of the World Bank for achieving an ambitious replenishment of resources for the International Development Association (IDA21), through which all grants provided by the Bank to Yemen are funded.
The Minister of Planning and International Cooperation also indicated that the time has come to launch a Multi-Donor Trust Fund for Reconstruction and Development in Yemen, welcoming the unified representation by the World Bank Group institutions in Yemen and an increase in the level of the Group’s contributions and missions to Aden. He affirmed the government’s readiness to facilitate the movements of sectoral missions.
