His Excellency Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, met today, Sunday, at the Republican Palace in Al-Mukalla, with a delegation from the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) led by Mr. Abdulwahab Salah, Deputy Director of the Human Capital Project.
The meeting, attended by the Governor of Hadramout, Mabkhout bin Madhi and the Advisor to the President of the Presidential Leadership Council, touched upon UNOPS’ interventions and the opportunities to expand its development and service support in various fields.
The UN delegation provided the President with a detailed explanation of the projects being implemented by the United Nations Office in Hadramout Governorate, in addition to the Office’s plans to expand its interventions to other cities in the governorate in the fields of engineering, city services, and infrastructure, especially in public works, sanitation, education, and renewable energy sectors.
During the meeting, president Al-Alimi praised UNOPS’ role. Moreover, He expressed his hope to redouble the Office’s efforts by taking advantage of the powers granted to local authorities to facilitate the work of international organizations and improve citizens’ access to services supported by the donor community.
His Excellency the President, on his own behalf, the members of the Council and the government, expressed his solidarity with the humanitarian and human rights community against the violations of the Iran- backed terrorist Houthi militias, which have targeted UN staff and local and international organizations.
