His Excellency Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, received today, Wednesday, at Al-Maashiq Palace, Mr. Alexander Kinschak, the Director of the Middle East and North Africa Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, along with his accompanying delegation.

During the meeting, the President welcomed the Russian delegation visiting the interim capital, Aden, as part of ongoing talks to revive joint ministerial committees and strengthen bilateral relations between the two friendly countries, including the resumption of the Moscow Embassy’s operations in Aden.

The President praised the long-standing bilateral relations between the Republic of Yemen and the Russian Federation, which date back nearly nine decades. He emphasized the shared commitment to expanding and enhancing these relations in various fields.

His Excellency expressed confidence that the resumption of the Russian Embassy’s work from the interim capital, Aden, would further strengthen bilateral relations and support the international community’s unity in backing the Yemeni people, their aspirations to restore state institutions, achieve peace and stability, and deter the Houthi militia’s violations of international law and global trade freedom.

The meeting also touched upon the latest developments in Yemen and the mediation efforts led by Saudi Arabia and Oman to de-escalate tensions and initiate a comprehensive political process under the United Nations’ auspices.

For their part, the Russian delegation reaffirmed Moscow’s commitment to supporting efforts and initiatives aimed at ending the war in Yemen and restoring peace, stability, and development in the country.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Shaya’ Al-Zandani, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Major General Saleh Al-Maqaleh, the Director of the President’s Office, and Mr. Yevgeny Kordov, the Acting Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Yemen.
