His Excellency Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, along with Aidarus Al-Zubaidi and Sheikh Othman Mujali, members of the Council, met on Sunday, in New York with His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Sabah, the Crown Prince of the State of Kuwait, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly sessions.
During the meeting, His Highness Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah conveyed the greetings of His Highness Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Emir of Kuwait, to the President and the Council members. His Highness wished President Al-Alimi and the Council members good health and happiness, and the Yemeni people stability and peace.
For his part, the President of the Presidential Leadership Council conveyed his own and the Council members’ greetings to his brother, His Highness Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. His Excellency wished the Kuwaiti Emir good health and well-being, and the brotherly Kuwaiti people further progress and prosperity.
The meeting touched upon the bilateral relations between the two countries and their peoples, exploring promising prospects for strengthening cooperation across various sectors. Additionally, the meeting addressed latest developments in the Yemeni situation and the necessary regional and international support for economic and service reforms, in light of the catastrophic consequences of the Houthi terrorist attacks on oil facilities and international shipping lanes.
His Excellency the President and the two Council members highly praised Kuwait’s commendable stances, its humanitarian and development interventions, and its sincere support for the aspirations of the Yemeni people and their political leadership in various stages and circumstances. Furthermore, they acknowledged Kuwait’s active role within the Saudi-led Coalition to Support Legitimacy.
The President of the Presidential Leadership Council praised the efforts of Kuwaiti financial institutions and charitable organizations in rehabilitating services and alleviating the humanitarian suffering caused by the Houthi terrorist militias.
For his part, His Highness Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah reaffirmed Kuwait’s firm position in support of the Yemeni people, their political leadership, and all efforts aimed at achieving security and stability in the country.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Shaya’ bin Mohsen Al-Zindani, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, and Ambassador Abdullah Al-Sa’adi, Yemen’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations. From the Kuwaiti side, attendees included Sheikh Dr. Abd Alleh Ali Al-ihaya, Minister of Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Ambassador Tareq Al-Banai, Kuwait’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, and a number of Kuwaiti officials.
