His Excellency Dr. Rashad Muhammad Al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, along with Council Members Dr. Abdullah Al-Alimi and Sheikh Othman Mujali, laid the foundation stone yesterday, Tuesday, for a number of development and service projects funded by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through the Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen (SDRPY).
His Excellency the President and the Council members were received by the Director of the SDRPY office, Ahmed Madkhali, and a number of program officials who gave a comprehensive explanation of the new service projects.
These projects included a specialized cancer center, the establishment of the 30-megawatt Asayfirah power plant, in addition to a rural hospital in Al-Mawasit District, and a project to rehabilitate and equip the Technical Industrial Institute in Taiz City.
His Excellency and the Council members also inaugurated the Al-Wahda Model School in Jabal Habashi District, and, along with the accompanying delegation, inspected the progress of work at the Medical City at Taiz University, which consists of the faculties of Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, the University Hospital, and administrative buildings. The Medical City, which will benefit more than 280,000 students upon its opening, is the largest medical edifice in the country.
The Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, on behalf of himself, the members of the Council, and the government, expressed his deep thanks and appreciation to the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, led by his brother, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and to the Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen, which worked to complete these vital projects under the constant supervision of His Excellency Ambassador Mohammed Al Jaber.
The Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council pointed out the importance of the developmental and humanitarian interventions that the Saudi brothers are working on, from medical and educational cities in various governorates to promising projects in the field of energy and water desalination, and before that, the financial and oil grants that have become part of the main resources for keeping millions of Yemenis alive.
The foundation stone laying ceremony was attended by the Governor of Taiz Governorate, Nabil Shamsan.
