His Excellency president Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, reiterated the Council and Government’s commitment to work on strengthening women’s role and enabling them to actively participate in decision-making and building the peace that all Yemenis deserve.
This came during the president’s meeting, Thursday, at the Republican Palace in the city of Al-Mukalla in Hadhramout Governorate. The meeting was held with the Women’s Sector in Hadhramout, in the presence of Governor Mabkhout bin Madi.
At the outset of the meeting, the President of the Leadership Council paid tribute to all Yemeni women who bear the greatest burden in the war sparked by the Iran-backed Houthi militias.
The President of the Presidential Leadership Council emphasized that the Council and the Government understand the demand of empowering Hadhramout’s women to work and leadership, both at local and central levels. He noted that this demand will be met according to professional capabilities and legal standards.
The President expressed his satisfaction with the reports indicating that the women of Hadhramout are achieving important progress every day in terms of economic, political, and charitable participation. However, he stated that this is still not enough, but it suggests a promising future.
President Al- Alimi explained that he is fully aware of the risks and challenges facing Hadhrami family, which require doubling the role of women on multiple agencies.
In this context, he drew attention to the risk of extremism spread by terrorist organizations, recruiting youth to Houthi militia-controlled areas, in addition the risks of drugs and poverty, and so many other risks that rely heavily on women to counter and combat.
