His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, on Friday, made an inspection visit to a number of infrastructure projects whose foundation stones were laid during his last visit to the city of Mukalla in Hadhramaut Governorate.
During the field visits, accompanied by Mabkhout bin Madi, the Governor of Hadhramaut, the President of the Presidential Leadership Council was briefed on the level of progress in the expansion project of the main Mukalla Street in Al-Salam neighborhood, an extension of the Martyr neighborhood, which is being implemented by the Baqdeem Contracting Establishment at the expense of the local authority in the governorate.
The project aims to alleviate traffic congestion and present the capital of Hadhramaut with a decent tourist and investment appearance and contribute to facilitating movement to and from the port of Mukalla.
The project includes expanding the main street of Mukalla with a length of 2 km and 200 meters in both directions, interspersed with a breakwater, pedestrian walkways, a marine tongue, and parking lots. As well as implementing a parallel cornice with intermittent extensions of the sea street, where the completion rate has reached about 60 %.
The President of the Presidential Leadership Council also inspected the second phase of Khor of Al-Mukalla tourist project, which is being implemented by the Yemeni Al-Amoudi Group for Contracting and Trading Limited, with a completion level of 45 % for the concrete structures, and 85 % for the water channel.
The second phase of Khor of Al-Mukalla includes digging a water channel with a length of 850 meters, with a total area of 47,150 square meters, and with a width varying between 60 meters and 50 meters.
The project consists of two bridges, 165 meters long and 70 meters long, respectively, in addition to parking lots, green areas, and tourist outlets.
His Excellency the President also inspected the project of paving and asphalting the middle ring road of Mukalla city as one of the vital infrastructure projects to alleviate the pressure of weights and traffic movement at the eastern entrance to Mukalla city, and facilitate the passage of commercial locomotives through the city.
Officials at the Hadhramaut Coast Ministry of Public Works and Roads office presented the project components and the course of its implementation work, which has reached 93 % completion.
The project path is 4 kilometers and 400 meters long, reaching the important project of paving and asphalting the Al-Ghalila-Al-Maqlab-Ambikha road, which has a path length of 11 kilometers, linking the city of Mukalla with the Fuwah area and the city’s neighborhoods without passing through the old neighborhoods, which contributes to reducing congestion.
The President of the Presidential Leadership Council was briefed on an additional explanation by the Governor of Hadhramaut and executive officials about the level of achievement in the rest of the projects, including the project of paving and asphalting the (Al-Ma’awas-Rabwa Khalaf) road, with a length of 2 kilometers and 200 meters, as one of the strategic projects linking the neighborhoods of the city of Mukalla and Rabwa Khalaf, in which all construction work has been completed.
The briefing included a presentation of the projects being implemented with funding from the Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen, whose work is proceeding well, including the start of work on the maintenance and restoration of the Al-Wadiah land port.
Work is also underway on education and water projects equipped with solar energy systems in the coastal and valley directorates, in addition to completing several executive studies for projects in the public works and electricity sector, whose tenders are expected to be released as soon as possible.
