On Thursday, Major General Faraj Salemin al-Bahsani, a member of the Presidential Leadership Council, met with the French Ambassador to Yemen, Catherine Corm-Kammoun, to discuss the developments on the national and regional arenas, and the role that the regional and international communities should play in supporting stability in Yemen.

They also discussed ways to enhance joint cooperation between the two countries, focusing on cooperation in the field of humanitarian aid that contributes to alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people under the current circumstances.

Major General al-Bahsani reviewed the continuous Houthi escalation and the terrorist acts targeting the Yemeni people, emphasizing the importance of support from the regional and international communities for the Presidential Leadership Council in facing these challenges. He stressed the necessity of imposing more pressure on the Houthi militias to stop their repeated attacks.

The member of the Presidential Leadership Council pointed out the importance of the French role in supporting stability in Yemen, praising the positive stances that France has adopted towards the Yemeni crisis. He confirmed that enhancing cooperation between the two countries in various fields, especially in security and humanitarian aspects, would strengthen Yemen’s ability to face current challenges and achieve security and sustainable development. He called on the regional and international communities to take firm stances against the Houthi militias and impose severe sanctions to prevent them from continuing to destabilize the region.

For her part, the French Ambassador affirmed her country’s readiness to support the efforts of the Presidential Leadership Council and the legitimate government, reiterating France’s commitment to supporting the Yemeni people in achieving their aspirations for living in security, stability, and lasting peace.
