On Wednesday, Dr. Abdullah Al-Alimi, a member of the Presidential Leadership Council, received the U.S. Ambassador to Yemen, Stephen Fagin, to discuss the latest developments and efforts to establish peace in Yemen.
Dr. Al-Alimi congratulated the U.S. Ambassador and the friendly American people on the occasion of President Donald Trump’s election as President of the United States for two non-consecutive terms, thereby affirming the greatness of the democratic process in the United States and also the American people’s and the world’s desire for real change. He emphasized at the same time the Presidential Leadership Council’s and the Yemeni government’s commitment to working with the new administration seriously and positively in a manner that serves our two friendly nations and achieves for Yemen and its noble people the end of the terrorist Houthi militia coup supported by the Iranian regime, and the restoration of the state.
Dr. Abdullah Al-Alimi reiterated that the true test for the U.S. administration towards the region and the Islamic peoples begins with stopping the war in Gaza, and working on initiating a comprehensive peace process that leads to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
Dr. Al-Alimi also reviewed the efforts being made by the Presidential Leadership Council and the government to confront the severe economic, humanitarian, and service challenges faced by the Yemeni people, stressing the importance and necessity of supporting the government to fulfill its commitments in various fields, including maintaining the stability of the national currency. He appreciated the unwavering support from the brothers in the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and in the United Arab Emirates.
From his side, the U.S. Ambassador affirmed his country’s support for the efforts of the Presidential Leadership Council and the government in facing various challenges, as well as for all efforts being made to establish peace, security, and stability in Yemen.
