Presidential Leadership Council member, Sheikh Othman Majali, met with former Middle East and North Africa Minister, Alistair Burt, who visited our country in 2013 as part of his duties at that time to complete the phase of consensus, national dialogue, and peace-making before the terrorist Houthi militia’s coup against the state in September 2014.
Majali recalled Burt’s role during that period, noting that Iran’s reckless interference, along with its support and arming of the terrorist Houthi militia, thwarted all chances of peace and stability, plunging the country into a war and chaos that continues to this day.
During the meeting held at the Yemeni Embassy in London, Majali stated, “The destructive Iranian role extended to providing the Houthis with technology and experts to target commercial ships and international navigation in the Red Sea, creating a global crisis in food supply chains.”
Majali praised the sincere and fraternal role played by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, along with the brothers in the United Arab Emirates, in reviving the peace process, supporting development, the economy, reconstruction, and recovery.
For his part, Alistair Burt affirmed his continued efforts to enhance peace paths in Yemen that would achieve security and stability, and assist Yemenis in overcoming the humanitarian and economic crisis, and the war’s obstacles that destroyed the country’s infrastructure and halted development.
