Presidential Leadership Council Member, Tareq Saleh, affirmed that restoring stability in Yemen depends on concerted international efforts to support the legitimate government in extending its control over the entire national territory and preventing Yemen from becoming a platform for threatening regional and global security.
This came during his meeting, on Monday, with the British Ambassador to Yemen, Abda Sherif, to discuss the situation in Yemen and the challenges facing peace efforts in light of the Houthi militias’ reneging on their commitments and obstructing all regional and international initiatives in this regard.
Tareq Saleh affirmed the government’s keenness to support peace efforts, stressing the necessity of finding a unified international approach towards the Yemeni crisis, taking into account the dangers posed by the Houthi militia to regional security as an Iranian tool designed by Tehran to destabilize the region and threaten navigation in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
In turn, the British Ambassador affirmed London’s understanding of these dangers and its rejection of all activities that undermine the security of global navigation, reiterating her country’s support for the Yemeni government and the Leadership Council, and for the efforts to achieve peace under the auspices of the United Nations.
