Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak directed the preparation of a unified national plan that integrates official efforts with the international community and humanitarian organizations to handle the displacement dossier, including returnees from displacement and those affected by it, according to a strategic vision that includes meeting their humanitarian needs and solving any problems obstructing the delivery of aid.

During his chairmanship of a meeting in the temporary capital, Aden, on Wednesday with the leadership of the Executive Unit for IDP Camp Management, the Prime Minister called for a more effective role from the international community and United Nations and humanitarian organizations concerned to support government efforts in addressing the needs of the displaced. He pointed out the need for international support commensurate with the scale of the crisis, noting that the decline in UN and international support in relief efforts and humanitarian response for the care of nearly three million displaced individuals fleeing from the oppression of the Houthi terrorist militia adds to the government’s burdens.

Dr. Ahmed Awad Bin Mubarak commended the efforts of the Executive Unit and its presence in the field, emphasizing the importance of intensifying efforts in coordination with ministries and government bodies to enhance services provided to the displaced, within a comprehensive vision for managing humanitarian relief in general. He offered several observations from his visits to displacement camps in Marib, stressing the need to incorporate these into future plans, including mechanisms for partnership with the international community and concerned UN and humanitarian organizations.

Najeeb Al-Saadi, head of the Executive Unit for IDP Camp Management, presented a report on the unit’s performance since its reactivation in the temporary capital Aden, and the national policy for addressing displacement in Yemen. He explained that the unit operates in 105 districts across 13 governorates, noting the existence of 657 camps, 1,112 displacement areas, and 2,898,000 displaced people. Al-Saadi outlined the unit’s plan to transition towards permanent solutions for displacement following the UN’s approach in this regard.

The Executive Unit for IDP Camp Management presented its future plan, focusing on three main dimensions: completing the institutional building of the unit, enhancing principles of transparency and quality towards achieving governance, fulfilling its duties towards the displaced and returnees, and preparing for permanent solutions.
