Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak has stressed the importance of intensifying the implementation of campaigns to control non-compliant money exchange outlets and currency speculators in all liberated governorates, through coordination between security agencies and the relevant judicial authorities, to protect the national currency and mitigate the impacts of its depreciation on the lives and livelihoods of citizens.

The Prime Minister followed up on the results of the campaigns executed in the temporary capital, Aden, by the Public Funds Prosecution, which led to the closure of several non-compliant money exchange establishments and speculators. He praised the role of the judiciary in supporting the efforts of the government and the Central Bank in dealing with existing price speculation in currency exchange.

Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak was briefed by the Justice Minister Judge Badr Al-Aaradha and the State Governor of Aden, Ahmed Lamlas, on the level of implementation of the directives related to controlling the exchange rate and deterring speculators, issued by His Excellency the Head of the Presidential Leadership Council, decisions of the Council of Ministers, and the Supreme Committee for Combating Smuggling and the Supreme Security Committee.

The Prime Minister emphasized to the relevant ministries, authorities, and the Central Bank to redouble efforts and continue urgently implementing follow-up measures and controlling crimes affecting the national economy, including controlling currency exchange rate manipulators. He directed the monitoring and regulation of prices of essential commodities and food items in coordination between government bodies and local authorities.
