Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak emphasized the crucial role of the General Authority for Environmental Protection in addressing environmental risks and challenges, and in establishing regional and international partnerships to devise strategic solutions for them, especially with the new threats Yemen faces due to climate change, ranking it among the most affected countries globally.
This came during a visit by the Prime Minister on Thursday to the headquarters of the General Authority for Environmental Protection in the temporary capital, Aden, where he reviewed its activities and programs aimed at addressing the environmental impacts resulting from the war waged by the Houthi terrorist militia, as well as climate change and the ensuing environmental disasters.
Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak listened to an explanation from the head of the Authority, Faisal Al-Tha’labi, about the Authority’s activities, its branches, ongoing projects, the challenges it faces, and its plans for creating partnerships to assess environmental impact, mitigate risks, address environmental health issues, and identify basic needs related to climate change sectors, along with spreading awareness among community members.
The Prime Minister directed to increase focus on environmental awareness, prepare for dealing with various aspects of environmental risks, in order to mobilize regional and international support to enhance national capacities in facing environmental disasters and adapting to climate changes. He affirmed the government’s support for the Authority to perform its role optimally.
